RGS Alumni News |
A huge congratulations to three of our alumni, bothers Lewis (2009-16), Matt (2010-17) and Tom (2012-19) Hammond, all of whom have experienced a rather unique graduation this week. All three boys have studied at Cardiff Business School; Lewis in Business Economics and Tom and Matt in Business Management. Lewis had a year in industry with his course and so finished in 2020, as did Matt. Tom has just finished his course this year. Due to Covid restrictions, the graduation ceremonies at the Principality Stadium this year were for the graduates of the last three years, meaning all three brothers graduated together.
On graduating together Tom says “the graduation was a very special occasion for the whole family, and it was a joy to see how much it meant to both my parents seeing all 3 of us dressed in our cap and gowns having finally graduated after going through many years of education”. Lewis adds “It was a great experience to graduate with my brothers, a day I’ll remember for a long time” and Matt comments, “Covid was evidently a very strange time for a lot of people, but in many ways brought a lot of families closer. Three bothers, three separate years but finally graduating within a day of each other is quite surreal but something I am very happy with. I want to say with a massive thank you to my parents who have supported us in numerous ways throughout our journeys, we couldn’t have done it without you.”
At School the boys had similar interests, with both Tom and Matt actually studying the same A Levels; Classics, Geography and Business. All three boys remember their time at RGS well. Tom’s cites his fondest memories of time at the School as “all of the extra curricular the school provided through activities such as army camps, especially being able to go on the rugby tour to South Africa” and Lewis remembers RGS saying “I had a fantastic time at school, it really helped set me up for university and beyond”.
The boys may have graduated together but they now go their different ways, though remaining very close as a family. Lewis works for KPMG in London and Matt works in management for Amazon. Having finished his studies, Tom has some exciting travel plans next on his agenda.
An amazing story and a huge congratulations again to the Hammonds!
