The Alice Ottley Bursary Fund is named for Alice Ottley, the first Headmistress of the school which later bore her name, and which merged with RGS in 2007. Alice Ottley was a pioneer of her day and believed in providing a first class education to girls and did not want financial hardship to be a barrier to that education. In 1908, on the Silver Jubilee of the school’s founding, Miss Ottley launched a bursary fund and our fund celebrates her vision.
Since the merger of the Alice Ottley School and RGS in 2007, over £5.4 million has been used to fund places for pupils at the School.
